A Devotional:

I don’t know about you, but I am constantly tempted and I can truly say that I don’t resist as hard as I often want to before giving in. By its very nature, temptations are hard to resist and are a constant reminder of the fact that people, as a whole, are depraved beings whose bodies are foreign to the righteousness of God (even if our spirits have been washed as white as snow). There seem to be new temptations every day, and temptations are an integral part of the daily life of a Christian. Temptations aren’t all bad. I mean, yes, sin is bad, but temptation can be a tool to strengthen your relationship with God. They are constant reminders that we need God’s help throughout the day.

I Corinthians 10:13 reads, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” Take this verse as a comfort every time you face temptation. All the temptations we fight have been fought and beaten by others before us. We are not alone, no matter how strong the temptation is (even something as insidious as narcotic drugs). Additionally, God is with us, and no matter where we go we are not alone. He will protect us from the temptation before us and will enable us to bear the temptation.

God’s strength is paramount, and we often forget that. Always remember that God is with you and call out to him in times of distress. He will help you fight off that temptation. Have you been turning to God for hemp when you have been tempted? Where else in your life can you turn to the Lord for help?
